Adventure is waiting
The Whiskers family is loading up the Wander Wagon and setting out to see all fifty states. One story, one campfire, one small wonder at a time. Come meet them, and find out where the adventure begins.
Our whole reason for doing this
To help families explore together, learn together, and make memories that stick.
Our hope is that every Wander Whiskers story inspires your own family's next adventure, whether that's across the country or just down the road.
Meet the Whiskers
Five cats. One Wander Wagon. Endless adventures.
They stop for every roadside oddity, pull over for every beautiful view, and somehow always find one more trail worth exploring. Somewhere between the scenic routes and the unexpected detours, they've become very good at being together.
-
Keeper of the itinerary
Mama
Mama keeps the Wander Wagon running on equal parts patience, planning and snacks. She maps out just enough of each trip to get everyone there, then leaves the rest open, because the best memories are usually the ones nobody planned.
-
Driver, historian
Daddy
Daddy never passes a scenic overlook or a historical marker without pulling over. He knows the story behind almost every place the family stops, and he's happiest when someone asks him to tell it.
-
Navigator, eldest
Finn
Finn keeps the paper map on his lap and the next turn in his head. He's the one asking what's over the ridge and how far it is to the river. He always knows which road is the prettier way round.
-
Collector, middle
Saige
Saige notices the things everyone else walks straight past. Her journal fills up with sketches, pressed wildflowers and small careful notes, with a page saved for every state the family visits.
-
Youngest, official greeter
Milo
Milo has never met a stranger, a puddle he didn't splash in, or a marshmallow he didn't drop straight into the fire. He waves at every passing car, and most of them wave back.
Step inside the Wander Wagon
Home is wherever adventure parks.
It creaks. The awning sticks. Every cupboard has a story to tell.
The Wander Wagon isn't just how the Whiskers family travels. It's where bedtime stories are read and rainy afternoons turn into board game tournaments, where pancakes happen on sleepy mornings and tomorrow's adventure gets planned around the table. It's the maps spread out after dinner, the rain on the roof, the last word before everyone falls asleep.
No matter where it's parked, it always feels like home.

- Pancakes on rainy mornings
- Best seat
- Whoever gets there first
- Most important rule
- Leave every campsite a little better than you found it
- Always packed
- Maps, journals, snacks, and just enough marshmallows

A New Beginning
where it all starts
Meet the Whiskers family, the Wander Wagon, and the morning they decide to go.
The books
Every great adventure begins with a single mile.
In A New Beginning, you'll meet the Whiskers family on the day everything changes. With the Wander Wagon packed and a map full of possibilities, they set off on their very first adventure, never imagining where the road will lead.
Each new book brings a different state to life through unforgettable characters, beautiful places, fascinating wildlife and real history, woven into stories children will want to revisit long after the adventure ends.
And every adventure ends with a little mystery. Hidden somewhere in the story is a clue about where the Whiskers family is headed next. Maybe it's a postcard, a landmark, or something tucked into the map. Half the fun is discovering it before the next journey begins.
The Founding Families
The families who make the next book possible.
Wander Whiskers is written, drawn and packed up by one family at a kitchen table. There's no publisher behind it and no budget waiting in the wings.
The Founding Families are the ones who back the series early. Their support is what pays for the next book, and they get to help shape it along the way.
- Early looks at artwork and story drafts
- A say in which state the Whiskers visit next
- Printables and activities before anyone else
- Your family's name in the back of the first book
Become a Founding Family
Every dollar goes back into the books. Here's exactly where it lands:
- Paying an illustrator properly, far and away the biggest cost
- Printing the first run
- Keeping every printable free to download
- Getting books into classrooms and small libraries
Not able to give right now? Pull up a chair at the campfire. That helps too.
